Sarah McManus (formerly Bickle)

A military brat who got to Texas as soon as she could, I've enjoyed a career that has always focused on moving teams over the finish line. I have a Master's degree in Educational Technology from Texas A&M, and I am a SAFe® Product Manager (POPM).

Currently, I'm an Instructional Designer at Texas State Technical College focusing on Aviation Maintenance and Avionics. I was nervous returning to the field of aviation after years away, but if I soon realized that if you're someone who loves reading regulatory documents and hearing mechanic and engineer jokes, that's an identity that never really fades. Prior to this role in aviation, I was a technical writer and communications specialist at Southwest Airlines beginning with the rewrite of the Maintenance Procedures Manual.

In my education career, I have always seen my students as clients, people whose journeys I support through training and way-finding. My classes were always filled with personal choice and practical skills, and we used spreadsheets and other heads-up displays to keep students focused on their goals...except for when I was laughing at their jokes.

I guess the through-line here is that I am just easily amused. It's a job skill.

At home, I'm a reader, a gardener, hiker, kayaker, wife of a bird nerd and stepmom of two super cool college students.
